In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers.
In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Mine Supervisor (Drill and Blast)
The MIne Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all drilling and blasting activities within the mine site. This role ensures that blasting operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and mine production goals.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
Supervise daily drilling and blasting operations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Coordinate with mine planning, geology, and production teams to implement blast designs and schedules.
Lead and manage drill and blast crews, contractors, and equipment to meet project timelines and production targets.
Conduct risk assessments, pre-start meetings, and safety briefings focused on drilling and blasting activities.
Monitor and inspect blast sites to verify proper drill patterns, hole depths, explosive loading, and stemming.
Ensure explosives are stored, handled, transported, and used in compliance with legal and company policies.
Maintain accurate records of blasting activities, including blast logs, misfires, vibration and fly rock monitoring data.
Investigate any incidents or irregularities related to drilling and blasting and implement corrective actions.
Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback to drilling and blasting personnel.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the drill and blast team.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience:
Technical diploma in Mine or Geology engineering and blasting or technical diploma in mining and blasting + relative years of work experience.
Minimum 5–8 years of mining experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory role in drilling and blasting.
Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting techniques, equipment, and explosives handling.
Experience in open-pit and/or underground mining operations.
Ability to interpret blast designs, maps, and technical documentation.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Familiarity with blast design software and monitoring equipment.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions:
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off
