In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, GMIN Ventures Guyana Inc. is seeking expressions of interest for the position of:

General Labourer

The General Labourer will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks that support the daily operations of the site, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities 

Assist in the setting up and maintenance of construction areas by clearing debris, removing vegetation, and preparing the ground for heavy equipment use.

Load and unload transport materials such as sand, gravel, tools, and equipment to and from various areas of the site.

Support trades people and operators by carrying tools, materials, and equipment to jobsites as needed.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, ensuring that all debris, waste, and hazardous materials are properly disposed of.

Safely operate basic equipment such as power tools, hand tools, and small machinery as instructed.

Adhere to safety protocols, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors.

Dig trenches, mix and pour concrete, and assist with the construction of infrastructure and other mining-related projects.

Work closely with team members, supervisors, and other trades to ensure the timely completion of tasks and support the overall progress of the project.

Perform heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods, contributing to the physical demands of the job.

Work outdoors in potentially challenging weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold, dust, and noise.

Ability to commute to or work at a remote mining construction site as required.

Qualifications/Skills and Experience

High School Diploma/CSEC

Experience in mining, construction, or heavy industrial settings is considered an asset

Operating or assisting with construction machinery is considered an asset

Ability to perform strenuous tasks in various weather conditions

Knowledge and commitment to following safety protocols and practices on a construction or mining site

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team

Ability to take direction and adapt to the changing needs of a dynamic work environment

Familiarity with basic safety gear such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, high-visibility vests, gloves, and eye/ear protection

Working Conditions

Position based at the OKO Project site - Fly-in/Fly-out

Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days off

Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided on site
