In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers.
In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Drill and Blast Foreman:
The Drill and Blast Foreman is responsible for leading the safe, efficient, and effective execution of drilling and blasting activities in support of production and development targets. This role oversees frontline crews and works closely with technical services to ensure drill patterns, blast designs, and timing plans are executed according to specifications, regulations, and site safety standards.
Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties
Supervise and coordinate daily drilling and blasting operations, including drill rig positioning, hole loading, stemming, and blasting.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and explosives legislation.
Liaise with mine planning, geology, and survey teams to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of blast designs and drill patterns.
Manage and lead drill and blast crews, including conducting daily pre-start meetings, safety briefings, and on-the-job training.
Monitor equipment performance and utilization, and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime.
Inspect and verify that drill holes are drilled to specification and that explosives are handled, loaded, and detonated safely and legally.
Maintain detailed records of drill and blast performance, including blast reports, misfire records, and explosive usage.
Assist in optimizing drill and blast practices to improve fragmentation, reduce dilution, and minimize environmental impacts.
Troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Promote a strong safety and performance culture through visible leadership and compliance enforcement.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mine or Geology engineering, with a technical diploma in blasting or technical diploma in mining and blasting + relative years of work experience.
Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in mining with at least 2–3 years in a drill and blast leadership or supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of drilling and blasting techniques in open-pit or underground mining.
Ability to interpret blast designs, layouts, technical drawings, and production plans.
Familiarity with blast design and modeling software.
Proven leadership and team management skills in a production environment.
Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, mine production tracking systems).
Working Conditions:
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on 7 days Off
