In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

Concrete Finisher/Mason

A Concrete Finisher is responsible for the final finishing and smoothness of concrete surfaces in various construction projects. They work with wet concrete, ensuring it is properly prepared, shaped, and finished to meet quality and design standards. This role requires physical strength, attention to detail, and experience working with various concrete finishing tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities 

Preparation of Work Area: Set up and secure the work area by ensuring that all tools, materials, and equipment are in place.

Concrete Pouring: Assist in pouring concrete for foundations, slabs, sidewalks, curbs, and other structures.

Leveling and Smoothing: Use hand and power tools to spread, level, and smooth concrete surfaces to the desired finish.

Finishing Techniques: Apply finishing techniques such as troweling, brooming, and stamping to achieve specific surface textures, patterns, or designs.

 Edge Finishing: Smooth and finish edges using edgers or hand tools to provide a clean, uniform edge.

Inspecting and Maintaining Concrete: Inspect finished concrete surfaces to ensure they meet quality and aesthetic standards.

Cleaning Equipment: Clean and maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper functionality.

Collaborate with Team: Work with other construction workers to ensure the timely and accurate completion of the concrete work, following blueprints or design specifications.

Qualifications/Skills and Experience

Craft certificate and or on the job experience.

At least 3-5 years working within construction project/mining.

Strong understanding of concrete mixing, pouring, and finishing techniques.

Ability to operate various concrete finishing tools, including power trowels, screeds, and hand tools.

Excellent physical stamina, able to work in varying weather conditions and on uneven surfaces.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently without compromising quality.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions

Position based at the OKO Project site.

Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off

Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.

Compensation Package

2-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
