In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Camp Recreation Supervisor
The Camp Recreation Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing recreational, wellness, and social activities for employees living in the mine camp. The role promotes employee well-being, morale, and engagement by providing safe, inclusive, and enjoyable programs that support a balanced lifestyle in a remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, coordinate, and implement a schedule of recreational, fitness, and social activities for camp residents (e.g., sports leagues, movie nights, tournaments, fitness classes, cultural events).
Manage and maintain recreational facilities, equipment, and amenities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and in good working condition.
Supervise recreation staff and volunteers, assigning tasks and ensuring quality service delivery.
Promote participation through effective communication and awareness campaigns (posters, announcements, digital boards, etc.).
Collaborate with the catering, housekeeping, and health & safety teams to ensure events comply with site safety and hygiene standards.
Monitor recreational budgets and control costs associated with programs and equipment.
Assess camp residents’ needs and feedback to continuously improve activities and services.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, site regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.
Support employee wellness initiatives, including health campaigns, fitness challenges, and awareness programs.
Prepare regular reports on recreation activities, attendance, expenditures, and facility condition.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
Diploma or degree in Recreation Management, Hospitality, Physical Education, or related field
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in recreation, hospitality, or camp management—preferably in a remote or industrial environment.
Experience supervising staff and coordinating multiple activities or events.
Knowledge of fitness, sports, and wellness programming.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse workforce.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic reporting tools.
High knowledge of gym equipment and operations
Able to train and teach user on safe gym machine usage
Basic knowledge of a cashier and store sales operations
Knowledge of inventory processes
Responsibility of cash & inventory control systems
Working Conditions
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
