The Occupational Therapist will report to the Clinical Services Manager, Seniors Health, and the Assistant Clinical Services Manager. The successful candidate will provide quality occupational therapy services within a client-centred framework, supporting the neurological rehabilitation and seniors clinics.
Accountabilities:
• Determine the physical, perceptual, cognitive and functional status of patients through administration of formal and informal assessments, plan and implement interventions to enhance overall functioning, and make recommendations regarding resources to support the patient/family in the community
• Provide education to the patients, their families/caregivers, students and interdisciplinary team members, and participate in interdisciplinary meetings, committees and quality initiatives in the program and Occupational Therapy team as needed
• Provide education on dementia and providing non-pharmacological interventions for the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia
• Practice in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the COTO
• BSc or MSc in occupational therapy or equivalent
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
• Membership in CAOT or OSOT preferred
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension)
• At least five years of recent experience practicing in geriatric and neurological rehabilitation
• Geriatric certificate preferred
• Experience with psychosocial, cognitive, perceptual and physical health related assessment and intervention skills addressing occupational performance
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of an inter-professional patient care team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with excellent time management and organizational skills required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
• Experience facilitating small groups (education and exercise) is an asset
• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
• Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
• May be required to travel between and work at all Osler sites
Hours: Currently Days, 8 hour shifts  (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Salary:
Minimum: $42.56 per hour
Maximum: $55.89 per hour
