Through our partnership with Thomas Steel in Warren, OH, we deliver onsite medical services at the Howmet Occupational Health Clinic. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly within a fast-paced industrial setting, providing essential care to employees where they work. We are seeking a motivated and confident LPN or RN who is passionate about occupational health and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Position Summary
The Occupational Health Nurse (LPN or RN) provides onsite clinical care, case coordination, and health services to employees in a manufacturing environment. This role supports injury care, regulatory compliance, and workforce wellness while partnering closely with Safety, HR, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical care including assessment, treatment, documentation, and follow-up for occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries (within scope of licensure)
Support or develop care plans and assist with coordination of care as directed (LPN scope supported by RN/physician as applicable)
Investigate, monitor, and track workplace injuries and illnesses
Coordinate case management activities including workers’ compensation, return-to-work, and applicable leave tracking (FMLA/STD/ADA in collaboration with HR)
Maintain strict confidentiality of employee health records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations
Perform drug and alcohol screenings and maintain accurate records
Partner with Safety, HR, and Operations to identify and mitigate workplace health risks
Coordinate care with external providers including hospitals and urgent care facilities
Assist with onsite clinics, including physician-led services, physicals, and respirator evaluations
Schedule and support annual employee physicals and wellness initiatives (e.g., flu clinics)
Facilitate or support modified duty/return-to-work processes
Provide health education, guidance, and referrals to Employee Assistance Programs as appropriate
Train employees in AED use and Bloodborne Pathogens protocols
Support evaluation and improvement of clinic services, care delivery, and outcomes
Maintain supplies and ensure cost-effective, safe resource utilization
Participate in safety committees, program development, and continuous improvement initiatives
Provide oversight, coordination, or support to per diem clinical staff as assigned
Perform other related duties in support of Occupational Health, HR, and Safety functions
Minimum Qualifications
Current, active Ohio LPN or RN license required
Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience (occupational health or relevant clinical setting preferred)
Certification or ability to obtain: CAOHC (hearing conservation), NIOSH Spirometry/Respiratory, and Phlebotomy
Strong clinical judgment with ability to respond confidently in urgent situations
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in occupational health, particularly within a manufacturing or industrial setting
Knowledge of regulatory standards (OSHA, workers’ compensation, workplace safety programs)
Experience with case management and return-to-work coordination
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
