Primary objective
Provides appropriate, proficient, coordinated service programs, sound clinical and management advice, and may provide direct clinical care
for complex client presentations within the specialty area.

Context statement
Based in Darwin within Clinical Excellence and Patient Safety, this role requires extensive expertise in policy governance and clinical
document development. Key responsibilities include engaging stakeholders in governance processes, facilitating education and training,
while supporting consultation and navigating approval pathways across diverse models. Strong knowledge of accreditation standards,
safety and quality principles, and a broad understanding of policy governance is essential to ensure the development of safe, high-quality
clinical guidance that aligns with best practice to improve patient outcomes.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Apply clinical knowledge and management skills and attributes to refine the practical aspects of how nursing/midwifery services are

provided, and how quality is assured, in day-to-day service delivery within a defined practice area.
2. Accountable for providing sound professional advice for assessment, planning, review, evaluation, and coordination of service

programs for individuals, groups or communities within the speciality area.
3. Demonstrate Department of Health values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision-making and interactions with consumers and

colleagues.
4. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
5. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
2. Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and management skills in an area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy,

supporting well-developed decision-making and problem solving to enable delivery of high-quality clinical services.
3. Demonstrated ability to review and evaluate service delivery, including interpreting established professional precedents and

organisational policies, and supporting change management as required for operational effectiveness.
4. Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive work environment, modifying work practices where necessary to meet the needs of

healthcare consumers and staff.
5. Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters

requiring tact and diplomacy.
6. Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that

influence health care provision for individuals and groups.

Desirable
1. Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.
