Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our nursing operations within a secure correctional facility. This hands-on role is where the Nurse Manager provides direct patient care alongside their team while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate, and compliant healthcare services to the inmate population. This role is crucial for maintaining clinical excellence and effective team leadership during the shift.
Key Responsibilities:
You will split your time between direct patient care and leadership duties:
Clinical Leadership: Lead the team, providing direct supervision, support, and mentorship to nursing staff to ensure smooth, efficient, and ethical operations.
Direct Patient Care: Provide direct nursing care, including health assessments, triaging, emergency response, medication administration, and the execution of physician-ordered treatments.
Policy & Compliance: Ensure the shift operations strictly adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as established nursing policies and protocols.
Emergency Response: Lead and participate in all medical emergencies and crisis interventions during the shift.
Collaboration: Act as the primary clinical point-of-contact for correctional officers and staff on the shift, ensuring seamless coordination of inmate care.
Quality & Safety: Participate in quality improvement efforts focused on enhancing patient safety and optimizing clinical services.
Qualifications:
Licensure: A Valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina is required.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of professional nursing experience. Experience in a correctional, emergency, or high-acuity setting is highly preferred.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage a team in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
Skills: Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
Environment: Ability to work effectively and sensitively within a correctional environment.
Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
Working Conditions:
This role is based within a secure correctional facility and requires the ability to work the specified overnight schedule and handle on-call duties. The environment demands a professional, ethical, and calm approach to managing medical situations and emergencies.
