On-Call: Required | Responsible for 24/7 operations
Salary Range:
• Min: $95,000
• Mid: $107,000 (~10 years of experience)
• Max: $114,000 (15+ years of experience)
Relocation Assistance: Available on a case-by-case basis
Overview
A freestanding emergency department (FSED) in Lake County, Florida is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Emergency Services to oversee clinical operations, staffing, and quality outcomes.
This leadership role manages an 11-bed FSED with low daily volume (~22 patients/day), private rooms, on-site imaging, and a resuscitation room. The ideal candidate is a self-directed emergency nursing leader with strong clinical judgment, operational discipline, and experience managing autonomous emergency settings.
Responsibilities
• Provide 24/7 operational and clinical oversight of the freestanding emergency department
• Ensure high-quality, patient-centered emergency nursing care aligned with regulatory and accreditation standards
• Manage staffing, scheduling, productivity, and skill mix to meet patient care needs
• Monitor clinical quality indicators, patient safety outcomes, and throughput efficiency
• Lead evidence-based practice implementation to reduce variation and improve outcomes
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee equipment readiness, maintenance, and emergency preparedness
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to ensure efficient patient flow
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, and support departments to ensure continuity of care
• Lead employee engagement, performance management, coaching, and professional development
• Address employee concerns and foster a culture of accountability and transparency
• Manage departmental operating expenses and identify cost-containment opportunities
• Support service recovery and patient experience initiatives
Required:
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care emergency leadership experience
• Charge Nurse, Coordinator, Supervisor, or Manager level
• Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma
• BLS within 30 days of hire
• ACLS within 6 months of hire
• PALS or ENPC within 6 months of hire
Preferred:
• Prior freestanding ED or rural emergency department leadership experience
• Strong autonomous clinical decision-making skills
• Previous experience in multi-site or system-based emergency services
