Job Description
ABOUT FLINT
Flint is a business advisory firm that specialises in helping our clients succeed in an increasingly complex world by managing risk and creating opportunities. We provide advice at the point where government and business meet, offering an authoritative perspective on both. We are experts in policy, political analysis, regulation, and competition.
Members of our multi-national team have experience working at the most senior levels in European governments, the EU institutions, member state governments, regulatory agencies, competition bodies and the private sector. We support companies who face the challenges of regulatory and policy change at national, European, and international levels.
THE ROLE
Flint is now hiring a policy and political Consultant to serve our growing Dutch client base. You need to be proactive, solution-driven, willing to go the extra mile, and have excellent attention to detail. We will consider candidates who speak Dutch and English fluently. You will be based in the Netherlands, and willing to travel to Brussels and London on a regular basis.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Strong interest in NL & EU public affairs and in at least one of the following policy areas: the energy transition, competition, international trade, life sciences, media, or financial services.
Demonstrated knowledge of Dutch and/or EU parliamentary and legislative processes is considered a strong asset.
Excellent analytical and research skills. Ability to obtain a solid overview of key developments in policy matters in a short period of time.
Good project management, organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritise, plan and schedule tasks proactively and independently. Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills. Flexible approach and the ability to work well across teams, both with colleagues, senior clients or stakeholders.
Excellent written communication skills, with proven ability to draft clear documents for internal and external audiences.
Outstanding oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate issues to non-specialists and to convey your message effectively.
Fluency in written and spoken English and Dutch is required.
YOUR ROLE AS A CONSULTANT
You will report directly to the leadership of the Flint Netherlands team.
You will provide timely political, policy and regulatory updates and analyses to client teams across the company.
You will deliver client work at the highest possible quality.
You will help optimise monitoring systems and use AI tools to improve the quality, speed and efficiency of research, analysis and intelligence gathering.
You will track relevant legislative and regulatory developments and translate them into clear, client-facing dashboards for Dutch and international clients.
You will provide organisational support contributing to the effective functioning of the Flint Netherlands team. This includes inter alia support in relation to intelligence gathering, our external marketing efforts and the preparation of regular client updates.
You will work regularly with colleagues across our Brussels, Berlin, Paris and London offices, including through travel, as part of cross-company client work and engagement with international policy and political stakeholders.
WHAT WE OFFER
We offer a dynamic, challenging and intellectually stimulating work environment with the opportunity to make a real impact on clients and their business. We put a high value on working as one team. We are small enough to work flexibly and informally yet established enough to offer fast career progression and excellent opportunities for the right people. We offer a competitive reward package and the opportunity to earn a significant bonus related to business success and individual performance and build a stake in the business.
You will be part of the Flint Netherlands team, but there are also opportunities to work at our Brussels and London offices on a regular basis. We are an integrated consultancy, meaning that we work together in international client teams.
