Job Purpose
Supervise night mechanics
Schedule
Sunday through Saturday morning 6:00 pm - 4:30 or 5:00 am
10 to 12 hour shifts
Job Duties
Selects and assigns staff to shop jobs
Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
Ensures Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations are followed for the safety of all employees
Oversees the overhauling and rebuilding of trucks, tractors, pumps, cranes, and other standard or specialized gasoline, diesel, and manually operated firefighting machinery and equipment
Diagnoses difficult problems, recommends repairs, and determines if service will be completed by subordinate staff or vendors
Inspects, tests, and adjusts equipment
Supervises and participates in the fabrication and construction of specialized tools and equipment
Prepares cost and material estimates
Performs any task assigned to subordinate staff, consistent with any licensing or certification requirements
Work along side of other employees
Communicate with Shop Supervisor, Ray Salla
Requirements
Six years of previous diesel mechanic experience
Excellent ability to supervise a team
Excellent ability to instruct and mentor a team of diesel mechanics
Ability to monitor and evaluate problems
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent computer skills
