Reporting Relationship
The Night Guardian will work under the supervision of the Home Care Program Manager.
Position Summary
The Night Guardian, also known as the night security guard is responsible for providing overnight security for the Wellness Centre and its Residents.
Essential Functions
This includes but is not limited to:
Patrolling and keeping watch of the Wellness Centre and the Residents.
Answering phone calls, taking messages, and responding to requests and questions.
Guarding the property.
Make decisions, solve problems, and tend to emergency situations.
Looking for hazards that might cause a fire, water damage or other issues.
Establishing a security presence.
Nightly disinfecting of bathrooms, including flooring.
Efficiently maintain and create accurate and timely reports.
Maintain confidentiality in relation to all residents.
Provide companionship, friendship, and emotional support to residents.
Ensure service is delivered in accordance with all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
Carry out duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Complete and maintain records of daily activities and observations.
Attend orientation, in-service training sessions and staff meetings.

Qualifications
At least two (2) years related work experience
Experience working with the elderly is a strong asset
Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
Valid Safe Food Hander’s Certificate
Other
Valid Ontario Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
Able to work shift work and flexible hours
Good communication skills (verbal and written)
Knowledge of the Ojibwe culture and traditions
Fluency in the Ojibwe language is a strong asset or the willingness to learn
CRC/VSS Rationale: M’Chigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults, so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. Those successfully chosen must provide a clear VSS Certificate, and the CRC must have a record clear and/or dated of any convictions relating to sexual interference, sexual assault, or related charges. The VSS must be current (30 days) and must be original.
