NFC‑based platforms are at the heart of secure connected experiences across mobile, wearables, automotive, and IoT ecosystems. They span domains such as wireless power transfer, secure NFC transactions, digital wallets, infrastructure services, and platform enablement. As a Senior Firmware Architect in the NFC Firmware organization, you will play a critical role in defining, shaping, and delivering robust, scalable firmware architectures that operate close to silicon and enable product differentiation across multiple NFC use cases.
This role is intentionally broad and technology‑agnostic, allowing the architect to contribute across Wireless Charging (WLC), Wallet, Infrastructure, platform firmware, core libraries, validation, or system‑level enablement, depending on business needs and project priorities.
We are looking for a senior technologist with deep embedded/firmware roots, strong understanding of real‑time systems, exposure to RTL/FPGA or pre‑silicon environments, and the ability to abstract complex systems into clean, scalable architectures—while also acting as a technical leader, mentor, and educator within the team.
Your Responsibilities:
• He/She should work as NFC Firmware architect and drive new product development, debugging and maintenance of NXP's flagship embedded software for NFC products.
• Design & Development of firmware based on RISC V/ARM platform
• Deriving functional module requirement spec from System / customer specification.
• Design and development of optimal architecture to design sub-system to meet the requirement.
• Review, approve code submitted by developers and maintain overall quality of deliverables.
• Ownership of one or more FW modules / SW sub-Systems
• Define and write of SW and Firmware specifications.
• Define test and validation environments.
• Develop NFC Firmware test cases at unit, integration and system levels and testing
• Closely interact with Hardware Development team, system architects and other component technical experts.
• Effectively collaborate with partner companies and ensure product considers partner requirements and constraints
• Define design guidelines, and development flows.
Your Profile:
• Mandatory:• 10-15 years of Embedded Firmware development experience preferably in mobile or RTOS based embedded systems.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electronics & Communication, Power Electronics, Computer Science from reputed institute with strong academic records.
• Embedded SW design/development (8,16,32 bit platforms, preferably RISC V & ARM architecture)
• Excellent C programming skills, exposure to assembly with hands-on development experience.
• Must have experience in low level firmware programming embedded systems / low level Drivers such as boot loaders, SPI/I2C drivers, UART drivers, RF, embedded RTOS, etc
• Hands-on knowledge of RTOS, its concepts and usage.
• Good knowledge and experience of working on SOC HW IP datasheet, low level driver development, etc.
• Exposure to IDEs like LPCXpresso, Keil, Eclipse
• Experience in using Debuggers. (TRAC32/J-LINK/LPC-LINK)
• Exposure to change management / configuration management, bug tracking tools.
• Hands-on with AI based efficiency gaining tools.
• Optional• Exposure to C++ / C#, Perl/Python is an added advantage
• Good understanding of NFC technology.
• Exposure to RTL, FPGA, or pre‑silicon environments is a plus.
• Personality• Excellent analytical, problem solving, debugging skills & influencing skills with go-to attitude
• Self-motivated, Proactive, good verbal and written communication.
• Sufficiently mobile and flexible, work location based out of Bangalore
• Experienced in requirements derivation, proposing Low level / High level design (besides coding) in the above-mentioned domains
• Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view and a good team player with cross functional, cross cultural & Global teams
Desired Skill Set
• Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) for embedded firmware development
• Knowledge of Embedded platforms and working closely with Hardware teams is preferred
• Know-how of smart card Contact less Proximity Standards such as ISO14443, ISO15693, ISO18092, ISO7816 etc.
• Near Field Communication Standards.
• Willing to travel to other countries on need basis
