Key Details
Salary: $55,000 – $65,000 (based on experience)
Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required or higher
Travel: Up to 60% CONUS travel to U.S. military bases
GSA Per Diem: Provided for travel expenses
Work Type: Travel + remote (when not on-site)
About the Role We are seeking a self-motivated Network Installation Technician with a strong work ethic to support infrastructure deployments across CONUS military installations. This role combines site surveys, infrastructure assessments, and hands-on network installation work, while supporting the execution of small to large-scale infrastructure projects across multiple sites.
What You’ll Do
Site Surveys & Infrastructure Assessment
Conduct on-site surveys to evaluate:
Connectivity: Uplink transport, fiber, and cabling between DCN suites
Rack Space: Availability for new equipment
Power: AC/DC capacity for new installations
Port Density: Usage and availability across DCN equipment
Existing Equipment: Identify unaccounted communication servers and switches
Accurately document findings and submit deliverables in accordance with project requirements
Network Installation & Cabling
Install and support CAT6 structured cabling systems (required)
Assist with fiber optic installation and testing (plus)
Perform cable pulling, dressing, labeling, and fire stopping to industry standards
Install racks, patch panels, and closet hardware
Support testing and troubleshooting using tools such as Fluke and OTDR (as applicable)
Documentation & Compliance
Complete and maintain DISA-compliant documentation for network installs and deinstalls
Ensure all work aligns with DISA standards and operational requirements (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, CENTRIXS environments)
Submit accurate documentation to support project deliverables and audits
Operations & Execution
Operate as a self-starter in dynamic, travel-based environments
Demonstrate a strong work ethic and accountability to meet mission requirements
Participate in safety briefings and maintain compliance with all safety protocols
Coordinate with project teams and provide timely field updates
Project Support & Execution
Support the execution of network infrastructure projects from site survey through installation and closeout
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure work is completed on time and aligned with project requirements
Track and communicate progress, risks, and field updates to support overall project success
Assist in managing multiple tasks or workstreams across concurrent project efforts in a travel-based environment
Requirements
Active DoD Secret clearance (required)
U.S. Citizenship (required)
7+ years of relevant experience (network installation, cabling, or related trades), including experience supporting infrastructure deployments or field operations
CAT6 cabling experience (required)
CompTIA Security+ certification
Ability to perform physical work (lifting 50+ lbs, climbing, working in comms spaces)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
CompTIA Network+ (preferred)
BICSI Installer/Technician certification (a plus)
Fiber optic experience (a plus)
Experience with DISA documentation for installation and deinstallation activities
Experience working in DoD or secure environments
Experience supporting small to large-scale infrastructure or IT deployment projects
Familiarity with working alongside project managers or structured project environments
