Job Description

ROLE

The Network Engineer is responsible for all day-to-day infrastructure technology needs of the bank, including administration and maintenance of wired and wireless networks, servers, and security devices. This position also manages the bank’s hybrid identity environment, supporting both on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), and ensures secure access to Microsoft 365 services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position is responsible for the following functions:

Evaluate, plan, implement, and maintain physical and virtual servers, including performance tuning, patching, and lifecycle management

Configure, monitor, and maintain VPNs, routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure secure and reliable connectivity

Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues, connectivity problems, and system outages

Implement and maintain system backups, offsite replication, and disaster recovery solutions for critical servers and data

Perform routine audits of servers, backups, network devices, and infrastructure components

Install, configure, and maintain security controls, including firewalls, antivirus/EDR, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and email security tools

Monitor and analyze system, security, and application logs to identify anomalies, threats, and operational issues

Maintain awareness of emerging security threats, industry trends, and regulatory changes affecting IT systems

Administer Active Directory (AD), including user and group management, Group Policy creation and maintenance, OU structure, and access permissions

Manage authentication services, password policies, and identity-related security controls

Support integration of enterprise applications with AD and other identity management systems

Ensure adherence to information security policies, confidentiality requirements, and all applicable local, state, and federal banking regulations

Support implementation and enforcement of security best practices, including access control, patch management, and vulnerability remediation

Collaborate with other IT teams and business units to design and deliver technological solutions that meet organizational needs

Provide support for escalated issues, offering technical expertise and troubleshooting guidance to help desk and support teams

Various other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of servers, networking systems including VLAN design and segmentation, and firewalls. VMware and Fortinet experience preferred 
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 2+ years of job-related experience
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Advanced computer literacy required, strong written and verbal communication skills, social and interpersonal skills, ability to solve problems, attention to detail, self-motivation, ability to consistently follow through on tasks, problem-solving, organized, analytical, customer relationship building, ability to multitask

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
TALKING: Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly
AVERAGE HEARING: Ability to hear average conversations at a standard level in an office environment around other customers and bank personnel
REPETITIVE MOTION: The employee is regularly required to type throughout the day
FINGER DEXTERITY: The employee is regularly required to use their hands to type and maneuver a mouse
AVERAGE VISION: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus with 20/20 vision (with or without the assistance of eyeglasses/contacts)
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds (unassisted), as well as stand or sit for long periods of time

WORKING CONDITIONS

General professional office environment with climate control and adequate lighting. Occasional travel to other bank branches. Regular hours outside of bank operation hours to complete tasks as necessary.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization.
MATHEMATICS ABILITY: Strong numeric capabilities; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers and common fractions.
LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to communicate clearly.
