Network Engineer

About You

You are a network professional with a strong IT operations mindset, focused on ensuring network stability, security, and availability across hybrid environments. You take ownership of day-to-day operations, incident response, and infrastructure reliability, and you are comfortable working hands-on with both on-prem and cloud-based networks. You thrive in environments where operational excellence, security best practices, and continuous improvement are critical, and you collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.

This position is part-time only

You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Network Engineering, Network Administration, or IT Operations roles.
• Strong hands-on experience operating and supporting Cisco networking and security environments.
• Extensive experience managing VPN infrastructures, including Cisco AnyConnect and legacy VPN solutions.
• Solid experience with Cisco Firepower appliances (ASA and FTD code bases).
• Strong operational knowledge of firewall configuration, maintenance, patching, and security updates.
• Experience supporting enterprise switching environments, such as Cisco Catalyst series.
• Hands-on experience with AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and VPN connectivity.
• Proven experience monitoring network performance, availability, and health across hybrid environments.
• Experience handling incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive remediation actions.
• Strong documentation skills for operational procedures, network diagrams, and configurations.
• Familiarity with security, compliance, and change management best practices.
• Excellent English communication skills, as you will collaborate with US-based stakeholders.

You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities:

• Own and manage day-to-day network operations across corporate offices, data center, and AWS environments.
• Ensure the availability, stability, and security of VPN and firewall infrastructures supporting on-prem and cloud systems.
• Execute, validate, and document Cisco firmware upgrades, security patches, and firewall maintenance activities.
• Support and operate AWS network components within a hybrid infrastructure model.
• Monitor network performance and lead incident response, troubleshooting, and remediation efforts.
• Enforce operational, security, and compliance standards during network changes and maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, configurations, and operational runbooks.
• Act as a senior escalation point for complex network and connectivity issues.
• Collaborate closely with internal IT teams and external vendors to support operational needs.
• Support and contribute to the migration from legacy on-prem VPN infrastructure to AWS.
