Navi Nurses RN Preceptor Role

Role Summary
As a Nurse Preceptor, you will serve as a clinical mentor and role model for newly onboarded RNs entering private-duty care. You’ll support their transition from traditional clinical environments to home-based care by providing hands-on training, clinical guidance, and professional encouragement. This role is ideal for experienced, compassionate nurses who love teaching, empowering others, and ensuring high-quality, consistent care.
Key Responsibilities
Lead pre-structured shadow shift experience for new RNs with predetermined clients
Demonstrate best practices in home-based care, including whole-person, holistic nursing, emphasizing Navi's core values
Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and documentation tips in both CharmEHR and Connecteam
Evaluate community-based clinical readiness, focusing on safety, communication, professionalism, and critical thinking
Support confidence-building, time management, and independent clinical judgment
Reinforce Navi's "Chain of Command" for support in the field
Serve as a liaison between new nurses and Nurse Manager to ensure a smooth transition
Observe and communicate your assessment on new RN clinical skills as demonstrated in the Shadow Shift, and address questions/concerns in the post-Shadow Shift review
Introduce new nurses to Navi’s elevated care standards and culture of going above and beyond
Additional Expectations
Coordinate schedules with new (to Navi) Nurses for Shadow Shift(s)
After each Shadow Shift, meet the RN at a nearby location to:
Review charting processes
Share tips and tricks for Connecteam and other platforms
Offer personal strategies for schedule management and chain of command communication
Discuss frequent scenarios
Share personal experiences to foster confidence and collaboration
Evaluate the RN as a peer, focusing on:
Clinical skills and critical thinking
Confidence, professionalism, and communication
Initiative and alignment with Navi’s values
Complete new nurse evaluation
Collaborate with leadership to assess mutual fit; your feedback is key to this decision
Minimum Qualifications
Current Navi Nurses RN Contractor
Active, unencumbered Arizona RN license
Current on certifications, liability and auto insurance, direct deposit, and completed W9 (check in with [email protected] to confirm)
At least 6 months or 250+ hours as a Navi RN Contractor with multiple shift types (e.g., ADLs, Check-Ins, Lines/Tubes/Drains, Wound/Ostomy, Medication Management, Advocacy, Post-Op, Hospice/EOL, Airway Management)
Has demonstrated consistent monthly shift claiming
Strong interest in mentoring and teaching
Compassionate, patient-centered communication
Comfortable providing feedback and fostering growth
Reliable, flexible, and organized
Willing and able to complete a one hour virtual preceptor learning session
Preferred Traits
Actively engaged in Connecteam (e.g., posts, chats, login activity 3–5x/week)
Proficient in Connecteam, time clock/scheduling, and CharmEHR
Demonstrates professionalism with clients, peers, and leadership
Frequently goes above and beyond for clients
Receives positive feedback from Nurse Navigators, Care Specialists, and leadership
Actively refers RNs and potential clients; promotes Navi Nurses publicly
Regularly offers kindness and encouragement to peers; no history of unprofessional behavior
Manages schedule effectively and is consistently punctual
Customer-Centric Mindset: Anticipates needs, addresses concerns, and exceeds client expectations
Holistic Care Coordination: Collaborates with clients, families, and care teams to create personalized care plans that support overall well-being

Hours vary depending on new nurse onboarding needs and current client population
Flexible, per diem
Compensation
$75/hour for 1-2 hour Shadow Shift(s) + 1 additional hour allotted for training/education
Benefits: Not applicable for 1099 contract positions
