JOB SUMMARY

This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.

Performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients using high field strength magnets and related equipment. Performs MRI imaging sequences necessary to reach a medical diagnosis and decision. Works under the guidance of the section MRI clinical instructors and Radiologists; participates in resident training program and may be responsible for specific areas of instruction in the training of Radiology students, house staff, or others, in MRI procedures, protocols, and equipment and/or safety issues. Bills all procedures performed and maintain necessary paperwork.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Obtains quality images for medical diagnosis by performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures as directed by a physician by using appropriate technical factors and scanning techniques.

* Performs and remains current on all scanning protocols.

* Evaluates MRI scans for technical quality.

* Prepares patients for MRI exam: explains procedure, ensures that patient screening form is properly completed, safely transfers patient to MRI equipment, properly positions patient and assists patient on completion of exam; completes exams in the required timeframe.

* Troubleshoots equipment problems and when necessary report to the proper personnel for repair.

* Utilizes ancillary equipment appropriately: PACS system, MedRad power injector, and Invivo monitor.

* May assist in department onboarding of Radiology students, house staff, or others, in MRI procedures, protocols, and equipment and/or safety issues.

* Bills all procedures performed and maintain necessary paperwork.

* Independently and consistently performs at least one of the following highly specialized imaging types: cardiac MR, functional (fMRI), or full breadth of intraoperative MRI procedures (e.g., intraop, postop, lymphangiogram, laser ablation, etc.)

* Acts as a solid resource for other MRI technologists and staff regarding policies and procedures, imaging techniques and coordination of complex imaging procedures.

* Assists and leads acceptance testing for new protocols and takes an active role in training others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic technology or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program.

Experience: Three (3) years of progressive responsibility and directly related work experience

License/Certification:

• ARMRIT MRI Technologist by American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists
• or
• Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
• Basic Life Support by American Heart Association (AHA)
• or
• RQI Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support

KNOWLEDGE

* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

* Ability to perform general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures which meet the department's standard of quality.

* Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

* Knowledge of Magnetic resonance imaging physics, physiology, structural and organic anatomy including cross-sectional anatomy.

* Knowledge of Magnetic resonance imaging techniques, methods, and equipment.

* Knowledge of medical equipment, instruments, and related functionalities.

* Knowledge of methods of positioning patients for radiographic and magnetic resonance imaging procedures.

* Knowledge of principles of image processing and development applicable to diagnostic imaging.

* Knowledge of safety principles and procedures related to ultrasound procedures and equipment.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $73.35 to $82.28
