Mr D, a division of the Takealot Group, is looking for a highly talented Senior Copywriter to join our team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Head of Brand of Mr D.

Your responsibilities will include:

Crafting compelling content for diverse media.

• Write engaging copy for digital ads.

• Develop persuasive content for websites.

• Create impactful social media posts.

• Edit and proofread marketing materials.

Collaborating with creative and marketing teams.

• Work closely with designers for visual consistency.

• Coordinate with marketing on campaign goals.

• Engage in brainstorming to generate ideas.

• Align content strategy with brand objectives

Reviewing and refining content strategies.

• Analyze content effectiveness and adapt strategies.

• Ensure messaging aligns with brand voice.

• Monitor and incorporate industry trends.

• Meet regularly to assess content needs.

Mentoring junior writers and creatives.

• Provide feedback on writing samples.

• Guide junior writers in project execution.

• Foster creative growth and skill development.

• Encourage innovative solutions to writing challenges.

Attributes required:

• Ability to translate a creative concept into a clear content plan

• Strategically driven with a sound understanding of brand and business growth.

• Must be comfortable with writing in various styles and for multiple formats for example digital advertising, UX for mobile app, social media, performance marketing, in-app, PR, radio etc

• Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media, with an understanding of each platform and the best practices

• Detail orientated

• Excellent proof-reader

• Must be able to manage a team, a content calendar and an agency relationship.

• Takes initiative and works well independently

• Strong communication and time management skills

• An enthusiasm for being a part of a fast-paced start-up environment

• Blogging and ad agency experience advantageous

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

• Creative track record with 5+ years industry experience with a through the line portfolio
