First State Bank is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) who is bilingual in English and Spanish to join our successful and growing lending team.

Position Summary
The Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for developing mortgage lending relationships, assisting applicants through the loan process, and ensuring compliance with all applicable lending regulations. This position includes an hourly base wage plus incentive compensation, in accordance with Bank policy.
Because this role regularly serves Spanish-speaking customers, bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain referral networks through relationships with customers, real estate professionals, and community partners
Deliver high-quality customer service throughout the mortgage application and closing process
Interview applicants and complete loan applications, disclosures, and required documentation
Collect and review due diligence and supporting information for underwriting and loan closing
Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries using strong mortgage and general banking knowledge
Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and Spanish
Adhere to Bank Loan Policy, procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Prior banking experience with an emphasis in mortgage lending
Working knowledge of underwriting guidelines for FHLMC and FHLBI loan programs
Familiarity with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, including Truth in Lending and RESPA
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency with standard office technology, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet-based systems
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written)
Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required with relevant experience
Compensation
Hourly base pay plus incentive compensation, in accordance with Bank policy
Additional $1.00 per hour bilingual pay differential for positions requiring regular use of Spanish language skills
The bilingual pay differential is provided as compensation for the additional skill required for this position and is not based on national origin or any other protected characteristic.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain seated for extended periods
Ability to travel independently to client meetings and training locations as needed
