Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base.
Orla is advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part of our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package. We also operate the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. Orla also operates the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history and the potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come.

As Orla continues to grow, we are seeking a Modeling Geologist to join our team and play a key role in supporting Exploration and Mine Production. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, validating, and processing field and drillhole data to develop and maintain accurate geological models for resource estimation, reconciliation, and exploration. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with the use of advanced geospatial tools to support informed decision-making across exploration and production. All work is conducted in accordance with established geological practices, QA/QC standards, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Log reverse circulation (RC) drill chips and diamond drill core
Support planning of pit exploration, geotechnical, condemnation, and water well drilling programs
Develop and update SOPs for logging, geotechnical work, mapping, sampling, and modeling
Assist the Senior Modeler in generating and updating 3D geological models and provide geological input and recommendations
Review, clean, and validate data, and perform database extractions
Generate 2D geological interpretations, including cross-sections, long sections, and elevation slices
Create and connect surfaces and solids to build complete 3D models and geological domains
Collaborate with ore control geologists and assay labs to support production reconciliation
Assist in planning run-of-mine, crushing, and ore blending strategies
Prepare reports, memorandums, and support general administrative tasks
Perform safety inspections and adhere to all safety policies and initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in geological sciences or related field required.
Four or more years of modeling geology experience.
Four or more years of experience with 3D geological modeling software.
Two or more years of exploration experience.
Two or more years of geological logging experience (RC and core).
Two or more years of geological mapping experience.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, walk over uneven ground for long distances, and withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated critical thinking, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level or higher).
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
