Mobile Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2026)

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. The Role

Our mobile developers keep Block's products simple and make our users faster and smarter by delivering exceptional user experiences and rich data insights. We're looking for engineers of all shapes and sizes, who are excited about contributing to outstanding software and solving hard problems. Our challenges span many technologies, including iOS and Android mobile applications. As a mobile developer at Block, you will work on a small team with people across engineering, product, and creative to build products that serve millions of users across our ecosystem.

You Will

• Collaborate with fellow mobile developers to develop, test, and release high quality apps for our users

• Ensure Block's products work right, every time, by using testing, continuous integration, and in-depth code reviews

• Create interactions and APIs that promote trust, increase security, and make it harder to do the wrong thing

• Contribute to the success of your team's projects and development

• Envision entire new products, features, and flows that are inspired, considered, and magical

You Have

• Pursuing degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math or related technical field, graduating between May 2027 and May 2030. We also consider recent bootcamp graduates and engineering training participants within three months of completing program/training requirements.

• Previous internship or project experience building apps for Android or iOS

• Programming experience in one or more object-oriented languages, including: Kotlin, Swift, Java, and Python
