Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Auto Electrician / Camera Installer to join our client’s team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and camera-based safety systems on Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs). This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to vehicle safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Diagnose and repair electrical faults in HGVs and commercial vehicles.

Install and configure vehicle CCTV and DVR systems, reversing cameras, proximity sensors, and telematics.

Work with CANbus, multiplex wiring systems, and fault-finding diagnostic tools.

Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.

Ensure installations meet industry standards and customer specifications.

Assist in routine vehicle inspections and safety checks.

Liaise with drivers, managers, and third-party suppliers when necessary.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment.

Requirements:

Essential:

Proven experience as an Auto Electrician, ideally working with HGVs or commercial vehicles.

Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic equipment.

Experience with installation and troubleshooting of vehicle camera and tracking systems.

Full UK driving licence.

Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable:

Relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Auto Electrical Engineering or equivalent).

Familiarity with brands such as Brigade, Stoneridge, or similar camera and telematics systems.

CSCS or ECS card (if working on construction-related sites).

Awareness of DVS/PSS, FORS and CLOCS compliance requirements
