About the Role

Mix-media Video Editor (Video + Motion)

We are hiring a video editor who can own end-to-end content delivery across short-form video, mixed media and motion-driven social assets. This role is built for someone who lives in modern social feeds, understands what earns attention today, and can turn a simple script, reference, or raw footage into a finished piece that performs.

You will edit fast and bring daily creative momentum to Darkroom’s brand. While occasional longer edits still matter, the core of your work will be short-form social content, performance-minded cutdowns, and motion-enhanced storytelling.

You will also help define how Darkroom shows up across platforms through consistent, high-quality video output.

This is a fully remote role supporting a team in EST zone. Candidates based in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil are encouraged to apply.

What You Will Do
Short-form and social-first editing

Edit and produce high-volume, high-quality short-form content for Darkroom across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and X.

Build “thumb-stopping” edits that land quickly, hold attention, and deliver one clear takeaway.

Pull the strongest moments from raw footage, podcasts, webinars, events and internal shoots, then shape them into tight narratives.

Create platform-specific versions of the same concept, including aspect ratio variations and multiple hooks for testing.

Deliver A and B variants to support creative learning and performance optimization.

Mixed media and motion design

Design and animate motion elements that elevate social edits, including kinetic typography, graphic transitions, and lightweight compositing.

Build mixed media layouts that combine video, stills, screen recordings, overlays, and design assets into one cohesive piece.

Develop reusable motion templates that speed up production without sacrificing quality.

Maintain strong design taste so motion and visuals align with Darkroom branding.

End-to-end ownership

Take a reference, script, brief, or rough direction and run with it independently.

Manage projects from first cut to final export, including file organization and archiving for future reuse.

Collaborate with marketing, strategy, and creative leadership, while staying comfortable making calls when direction is loose.

Anticipate bottlenecks and propose clear solutions before they become problems.

Hit deadlines consistently without letting quality slip.

Social and performance awareness

Stay close to what is working on social right now, including trends, pacing, formats, and editing language.

Make creative decisions with performance and aesthetics in mind.

Use basic performance signals to inform how you cut, structure and hook content over time.

AI and workflow acceleration

Keep up with emerging tools that can speed up production, like transcription, captioning, audio cleanup, and smart cutdowns.

Adopt tools when useful, while keeping final output polished and human.

You Are a Great Fit If You

You have 3+ years of editing experience, with a real portfolio of short-form work.

You can edit video and design motion in a way that feels native to social platforms.

You have strong mixed media instincts, balancing video, typography, and graphics without clutter.

You think like a producer. You do not wait for perfect inputs, you turn rough direction into finished work.

You understand hook design, pacing, rhythm and retention mechanics across social formats.

You are fast, organized, and steady under pressure, and you can run multiple projects at once.

You actively consume social media and can explain why something worked, not just that it worked.

You communicate clearly, take feedback well and collaborate with speed and low friction.

You care about craft, but you care even more about impact.

Bonus If You

You have edited for creators, founders, agencies or brand-led thought leadership channels.

You have worked on performance creative and can connect edits to outcomes.

You have experience capturing and editing event content for social distribution.

You have built repeatable motion systems or template libraries.

You have explored AI tools for editing, motion, or production automation.
