Dawson Mine
In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in manganese, as well as copper exploration projects under way in North West Queensland. Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
Dawson Mine, located near Moura, is only a 2-hour drive from Rockhampton & Gladstone. It is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits - Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland with no signs of slowing down. Dawson Mine is rich in history, it was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963 – join the legacy today!
We are currently seeking experienced Mining Supervisor with experience in Drills and Mine Services to oversee the safe and efficient operation of Dawson’s Overburden Drilling & Mine Service Operations at Dawson Mine.
Reporting through to the Drill & Blast Superintendent, you will demonstrate a drive for safety as well as strong interpersonal and leadership skills. As an experienced supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and leading a large team of operators to ensure operational production standards are met.  
You will effectively plan, monitor and coordinate personnel, equipment and resources to achieve Dawson’s set targets and schedules. This role will be of interest to those who enjoy coaching and mentoring an established crew, interesting investigative challenges and effectively working with other departments on site whilst maintaining strong relationships.
Relevant skills, knowledge and experience required for this role include:
• To be successful in the role, you will have supervisor experience running a large team within an open cut mining operation.
• Demonstrated experience with Overburn Drilling & Mine Services operations and a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Hold the Supervisor & Risk Facilitator competencies (S1, 2, 3 & G2).
• Trainer & Assessor certification is desirable.
• Full-time permanent position based at Dawson Mine, Moura QLD
