Schedule: 7 on/7 off/ or 14 on/14 off (Averaging Agreement – Compressed Work Schedule)

Role Summary:
Working in teams of two under the direction of our client, the Mine Shovel Maintenance Operator is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks required to return mining shovels to operational status in the field. The role involves significant physical labour, work in confined spaces, and the flexibility to adapt to changing work scopes while always prioritizing safety. Operators must also maintain and clean all tools and equipment associated with the position, while strictly adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities:
Follow all safety standards, procedures and practices
Operate steam truck for steaming and pressure washing various components of mining shovels, mobile equipment, vehicles and miscellaneous components
Operate support equipment such as AWP (aerial work platform), forklift, telehandler/zoom boom, skid steers, tractors, light vehicles.
Drive down in the mine daily with steamer unit or crew truck for various needs including performing work, and/or deliveries of supplies.
Hand cleaning mining shovels car body, rev frame, boom and housing. Including (confined space crawling work in grease & oil environment) with the use of air actuated tools, hand tools and various cleaning supplies to get areas ready for inspection and/or repairs.
Monitor fluid levels and status of equipment being used and top up/call for top up in a proactive approach to minimize downtime.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies in the truck utilized to go in the mine to ensure we’re as effective as possible to minimize the driving in & out of the mine.
Grease equipment as necessary
Must comply with work order system to include interpreting work orders, performing work requested and completing work orders per instruction.
Perform overall caretaking duties of the work area including general housekeeping, shoveling snow & sanding as needed to maintain a safe environment.
Assist other personnel & contractors as needed for various laboring duties such as assisting mechanics, welders or client with handling tools and material to get set-up, maintain clear from debris during task execution or demobilizing from the task area.
Work independently with minimal supervision and perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
Valid Class 3 or Class 1 Driver’s License (Class 5 with Air Brake endorsement and a plan to obtain class 3 may be considered)
Clean 5-year Driver Abstract obtained within 30 days of starting work is required
Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial cleaning (preferably Mining equipment)
Confined Space, Fall Protection and Elevated Work Platforms certifications required
Common Safety Orientation (CSO) is required
WHMIS 2015 Certification is required
The following tickets would be an asset to your application:
Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certification is an asset
Rigging Certification is an asset
First Aid Certification is an asset
Ability to pass a Drug and Alcohol test and Fit for Duty test
Applicants are required to be clean shaven for testing and beyond
Applicants must have the ability to lift 50lbs or more
Safety conscious attitude
Must be willing to work in fluctuating climates (hot, cold, wet) and environmental conditions
Demonstrated knowledge and safe operation of Steamer unit (combo unit would be considered an asset)
Previous experience in confined space work
Solid understanding of Mining Safety and LOTO
Troubleshooting skills of the operated equipment
High aptitude for multitasking and working within an ever-changing environment.
Resiliency, and positivity when dealing with stressful situations
Must have the ability to speak, read and write fluently in English
