De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a Mine Engineering Coop Student to join the Mining department on a 8-month contract, starting in September 2026. Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer and working a 2 week on/2 weeks off rotation, this is a great introduction to open pit mining with a focus in mine planning at Gahcho Kue Mine. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key Responsibilities:
• Draft planning maps to support functions in mine planning and operations: dig plan maps, dump maps, blast radius map & notifications.
• Attend field tours and site inspection, learning about the mining environment & contribute to planning and execution.
• Review and compile production KPIs, produce production reports, analyze data & present results at various meetings & forums.
• Perform reconciliation of demonstrated performance data with the mine plans to identify and recommend actions for improvement and opportunities ahead of time;
• Utilize mine technology for plan uploads & system usage, such as high precision GPS & fleet management
• Learn about fleet management, mine technology & support routine tasks to achieve high data quality & enable continuous improvement initiatives.
This is a site- based position working 14 days in/14 days out rotation. This is a 8-month contract.
• Current enrollment in a Canadian accredited engineering post-secondary institution program for Mine Engineering or equivalent (Civil, Geological, etc.) 
• You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term
• Completed 2nd year of degree program
• Please attach your most recent transcripts with your application
• Positive attitude & eagerness to learn.
Beneficial if you have:
• Experience in mine planning software such as Deswik or CAD
• Knowledge in excel, VBA, power BI or SQL
• Residence in the NWT or Nunavut is preferred
