Middle School Recreation Counselor

Join Our Team as a Middle School Recreation Counselor!

Are you passionate about working with middle school students? Do you enjoy leading engaging activities while ensuring a safe and inclusive environment? The Dundee Township Park District is looking for a Middle School Recreation Counselor to supervise participants, coordinate activities, and create memorable experiences!

What You’ll Do

As a Middle School Recreation Counselor, you’ll:

Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities, including crafts, nature activities, cooking, games, hikes, outdoor activities, and field trips.

Supervise and monitor participants at all times, including during field trips.

Address and manage participant behavior issues appropriately.

Maintain a clean, organized, and litter-free program site.

Communicate with parents about participant experiences and report concerns to Recreational Leadership.

Assist in maintaining accurate records, including incident reports, logbooks, and daily attendance.

Help develop and implement weekly schedules for Middle School Recreation groups.

Comply with all safety and loss prevention policies and notify the supervisor of any unsafe conditions.

Perform additional duties as assigned by management and support other Park District employees when needed.

Uphold the DTPD’s Mission Statement by providing excellent service to the community.

Who You Are

You’re a dedicated and enthusiastic leader with:

Experience working with middle school-aged children.

A valid driver’s license (must be 21 or older).

Strong communication skills to engage with participants, parents, and staff.

A commitment to safety and risk management.

The ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.

Spanish-speaking ability (preferred).

Schedule

Regular hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.

Some evenings, weekends, or extended hours may be required as needed.
