The middle school classroom teacher plans, organizes, and delivers lessons consistent with the middle school education curriculum. The teacher explains complex concepts simply and enriches classroom time by using a variety of instructional methods. Classroom teachers encourage students to be curious and to have respect for the world and all that God has created.
Required Education
Have obtained a Bachelor’s degree
State-level teacher certification preferred
Required Spiritual Qualifications
All faculty and staff shall:
Have received Jesus Christ as his/her Savior
Believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living
Be in agreement with the school’s Doctrinal Statement and Christian philosophy of education
Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God’s Biblical standards for sexual conduct (Luke 6:40)
Be a member in good standing at a local church that has a Statement of Faith in significant agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith
Show by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ
Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go”
Other Required Qualifications
Recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and be prepared to assist them in that task
Place his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs or volunteer activities
Demonstrate a love of children and a heart to serve others
Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority
Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately
Avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)
Essential Job Functions
Reflect on the purpose of the school, which is using excellent education to support parents in their task of bringing up children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord Jesus Christ
Motivate students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling
Lead students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ
Integrate Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises to promote a healthy learning environment
Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students, challenging each to do his or her best
Work with the Special Education coordinator and other staff to meet the needs of students through appropriate accommodations and modifications
Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school’s philosophy
Assess student learning regularly and provide progress reports as required
Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to monitor student progress
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and academic needs
Participate in parent-teacher conferences and maintain professional communication with families
Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to support student learning and school initiatives
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school training as required
Use classroom technology and educational tools appropriately to support instruction and communication
Help prepare and maintain classrooms and learning spaces throughout the year
Set up classroom or equipment as needed prior to classes or activities
Establish and enforce rules of conduct for activities and teach safety practices
Adapt instruction and activities to students’ special needs when required
Monitor the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
Participate in school events, activities, and functions as requested by administration
Perform other duties as assigned by school administration
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during the school day.
The employee may occasionally be required to bend, kneel, stoop, or reach while working with students or classroom materials.
The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds such as books, classroom supplies, or equipment.
The employee may supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments and must maintain active supervision of students.

All employees must pass required background checks and comply with school policies and procedures.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
