The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced Fabrication Specialist to join the Phantom Works Operations team working in the Printed Material Centers located in Mesa, AZ. This position will require strong teamwork and communication skills to effectively work with the build team to support various proprietary programs. Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
We are looking for candidates to work in our Printed Materials Fabrication Centers. The long-term goal for this opportunity is the successful transfer of the manufacturing and fabrication skillset and knowledge from Specialty Materials & Integration (SMI) to an Operations team. These positions will be working alongside the SMI team and candidates will be expected to learn all the steps of the manufacturing process over time. This includes material preparation, photomask fabrication, screen set-up and development, printing, visual inspection, QA test, packaging, cleaning, and teardown/set-up. These tasks pose a range of challenges to learn, taking from a few days to years to achieve full mastery. They require working hands-on with manual and automated machinery, large screen frames, high pressure power washers, and solvents.
Critical attributes of a successful candidate are attention to detail in process steps, self-motivation/strong work ethic, good communication, constructive collaboration with teams, good manual dexterity, and an ability to work in an environment with solvents.
Additionally, this opportunity requires obtaining and maintaining a DoD “Final” Secret security clearance as well as Special Program accesses.
Position Responsibilities:
• Develops lay-up and assembly set-ups and techniques for the fabrication of composite structural and assemblies.
• Sets up and troubleshoots composite parts for assembly or layup.
• Assembles, lays up, or and supports processes the fabrication of parts and components. Identify nonconforming detail parts, assemblies and processes. Work with engineering to improve manufacturing processes.
• Fabricate composite detail parts using various pre-preg composite materials and/or wet layup processes. Locate station lines, index points, and E.O.P lines to establish exact locations of ply installations and components.
• Assemble and install detail composite and metallic components by bonding, sealing, cementing, and riveting to engineering specifications.
• Set up, weigh, mix and apply composite adhesives per engineering and company specifications.
• Prep and apply required release agents to composite prototype and or production tooling per company specifications.
• Working knowledge of composite material bonding best practices, FOD control and prevention.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
• Ability to work 1st Shift
• Must have High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
• Must have experience interpreting and working from blueprints, sketches and written and verbal instructions, in English
• Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Active Secret Clearance or higher preferred

Salary Range:
Level C $57,800 to $78,200
Level D $68,000 to $92,000
