Microsoft Power BI Developer
Independent Contractor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Microsoft Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, report creation, and dashboard development, along with a deep understanding of data modeling, visualization techniques, and amazing design skills. This role requires close collaboration with various business units to translate their data needs into actionable insights. This is a full-time position for an initial six (6) month term, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

COMPENSATION
Salary Range: $36.00 to $55.00 hourly - flexible based on expertise and skills
Bonus: Discretionary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report and Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, ensuring they meet the needs of the business and are user-friendly.
Data Modeling: Create and maintain data models to ensure data accuracy and integrity. Transform raw data into meaningful insights by implementing best practices in data management.
Data Integration: Connect Power BI to various data sources (e.g., SQL Server, Azure, Excel, APIs) and ensure seamless integration and data flow across systems.
Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to support decision-making processes. Identify trends, patterns, and insights in complex datasets and present them to stakeholders.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into technical solutions.
Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize Power BI reports and dashboards for performance. Troubleshoot issues related to data accuracy, report rendering, and user experience.
Training and Documentation: Provide training and support to end-users to ensure effective use of Power BI reports and dashboards. Develop and maintain documentation for all BI solutions.
Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest Power BI features, tools, and best practices. Proactively suggest improvements to current processes and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, data science, or related field.
2-5 years of experience in business intelligence development, with a strong focus on Microsoft Power BI.
Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M (Power Query Formula Language).
Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
Strong understanding of SQL and database management.
Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Fabric).
Experience with KPIs and Kubernetes.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Preferred
5+ years’ experience.
Experience with agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts as they relate to the Power Platform.
Microsoft Power BI Certification or other relevant certifications.
Experience in the electric and/or gas utility industry.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Flexibility to work across U.S. time zones as needed.
Must be able to work legally in the US without sponsorship.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Ability to pass a background check.
