We are currently seeking a full-time Mental Health Tech (MHT) with a 2/3 block schedule working 12 hour shift to join our clinical team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
A Mental Health Technician (MHT) at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles plays an essential hands-on role in supporting patients and helping maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
MHTs observe and monitor patient behavior, complete routine safety checks, and assist with daily living needs such as hygiene, meals, and mobility. They also help facilitate group activities, encourage patient participation in treatment, and support the development of healthy coping and social skills.
In addition, MHTs document patient interactions, communicate changes in behavior or condition to nursing staff, and assist with de-escalation when necessary. This role requires strong communication skills, patience, and attentiveness, making MHTs a key part of the patient care team.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Previous experience caring for geriatric psychiatric patients strongly preferred.
• CNA Certification preferred
• Updated resumes with work history required
