General Description:
The Senior MetOptima Implementation Engineer owns the end-to-end technical and operational delivery of MetOptima at customer sites in the region, from Diagnostics through to Build/Implementation, Adoption, and Ongoing Improvement.
The Senior Implementation Engineer owns and defines the MetOptima solution design for a customer site architecture across:
Data and control systems integration
Baseline performance definition and uplift metric determination
Optimization model structure and strategy
Adoption and training of client personnel
Value delivery and maintenance of optimization uplift
Risk and change management
Process safety and compliance.
The Senior Engineer leads client stakeholder engagement and alignment (operations, metallurgy, IT/OT, site and regional management), provides guidance to data science on model strategy, provides input and feedback to product teams, and drives client adoption through training, documentation updates, and governance cadence.
Travel to customer sites (up to ~50%) is required for critical phases of MetOptima implementation.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
BSc/BEng Chemical Engineer
Advanced Process Control (APC), Base Layer Control, Industrial Networking, Minerals Processing. Additional knowledge of hypothesis testing, statistical uplift measurement, data quality governance, and model quality monitoring will be an advantage.
10+ years designing, installing, and maintaining Advanced Process Control and/or optimisation systems in a minerals processing environment. Experience leading multi-unit APC deployments and integration with PLC and SCADA integrations.
Post‑graduate qualification in control engineering or equivalent is advantageous.
Self‑driven, independent, proactive, strong stakeholder leadership and communication, structured problem‑solving, ability to mentor others, willing to travel, resilient under pressure.
