GENERAL SUMMARY: Under direction, maintain meter inventory; install equipment; trouble shoot customer problems; interact with public regarding billing; shut-off meters; program meters; respond to customer concerns; conduct general electric work in the borough; fill in as 1st class lineman when necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
MAINTAIN INVENTORY: Make sure inventory is up to date in computer; order and stock new meters; meter pans; electrical and mechanical hardware; all transformers; fiber optic equipment
TROUBLE SHOOT: Handle electrical emergencies as they arise in regards to power failure, fires or any other electrical problems and questions; troubleshoot meter problems. Test fiber optic network when necessary.
METER WORK: Consult with contractors and electricians to decide what equipment is needed; install new meters in service locations; test meters for accuracy; use computers to read the meters through the Elster system; replace problem meters and send back to factory; diagnose meter problems in the shop and field; check meter seals for theft of power and customer safety; check outage counts and meter alarms and report meter sockets that need repair by customer; program meters using Metercat software; interact with meter supply salesman for purchasing and getting quotes; compile reports in Microsoft Excel and keep track of inventory
ELECTRIC WORK: Work with live voltage (120-480 volts); work with the line department when needed; help line crew with electrical work on slower days; fill in as 1st class lineman (see first class lineman description).
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Check high bill complaints; help customers manage power use and realize savings; create electrician load reports and research for customer properties; troubleshoot for customers regarding complaints on phone, in house, with businesses ; disconnect and reconnect service, disconnect when customers are overdue.
FIBER OPTICS: Design, order, install, splice, delegate to crew, all that is required to maintain the borough’s fiber optic network.

Education/Employment: Any combination of education and experience which indicates possession of the
skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. Candidates must possess four (4) years of electrical schooling from a vocational or trade school
must also possess a valid PA Driver license
