MES & Traceability Engineer (f/m/div.)

Your contribution to something big:

• Lead the initiation, planning, implementation, and control of activities related to new production lines and product launches;
• Support the implementation and parametrization of the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for production areas and customer products;
• Ensure the operation, functionality, and continuous improvement of the traceability system across all manufacturing steps;
• Drive process optimization and support interactions between MES, ERP, and other local systems;
• Develop integration solutions based on MES requirements;
• Provide training, consulting, and user support on traceability topics for local teams.

What distinguishes you:

Education

• Degree or Master’s in Electrical, Electronic, Informatics, Industrial, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field;
• Background in industrial automation, IT/OT systems, or manufacturing IT(is a plus);
• Equivalent professional experience in MES, traceability, or manufacturing IT environments is also valued.

Experience

• Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably in discrete or automotive manufacturing;
• Hands-on experience with MES systems, SAP (e.g., PP, MM), and their integration with shop-floor systems;
• Practical experience with traceability concepts, genealogy, batch/serial tracking, and compliance requirements;
• Experience supporting production environments (incident handling, root cause analysis, change management);
• Familiarity with project-based work, including rollouts, upgrades, or system migrations, is a plus.

Know‑how

• Programming skills in C#; C++ or scripting languages are considered an advantage;
• Solid knowledge of relational databases and SQL; experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, or MySQL;
• Understanding of MES architectures, interfaces, and data flows between ERP, MES, and automation layers;
•  Basic knowledge of industrial communication standards and concepts (e.g.OpCon XML, OPC, TCP/IP, interfaces);
•  Awareness of IT/OT security, system performance, and high-availability concepts is a plus.

Languages

• Good command of English, both written and spoken;
• German or other European languages are an advantage;
• Ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural and international environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and sustainable solutions;
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure in production-critical environments;
• Experience working in cross-functional and international teams;
• Familiarity with IT service management or project methodologies (e.g., ITIL, Agile, or Waterfall) is an advantage.
