Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Mental Health Therapist to join the Crisis & Stabilization Team (CAST). Reporting to the Care Manager of Children, Youth and Families of Addiction and Mental Health this unique opportunity involves working closely with the Intake, Stabilization, Crisis and Youth Police & Crisis Team (YPACT) Teams to provide responsive, client-centered care to children, youth, and families. The position will be based out of the Nexus and Inglewood CYF offices and will be a float position amongst the programs. This is a Monday to Friday 7.75 hours position; however, this position will provide Mental Health Therapist (MHT) cover off with the YPACT team and the MHT will be asked to shift to 9.75-hour shifts (Monday to Friday x4 shifts) during the cover off periods. As an MHT, you will be part of a multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating to meet the diverse needs of individuals, families, and communities. You will provide a wide range of addiction and mental health services including Crisis intervention, Community outreach/stabilization, Walk-in support, Group facilitation, Assessments, System navigation Interventions may occur via telephone, in clinical settings, community locations, or client homes, depending on identified needs. Key Responsibilities: Conduct intake, clinical interviews, and screening for clients with addiction and mental health concerns. Provide referrals to internal CYF clinics, CASA, or redirect to appropriate community agencies based on client needs. Deliver evidence-informed psychosocial interventions using a variety of treatment modalities. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including community agencies, emergency departments, police, and acute care environments. Participate in crisis response and stabilization efforts.
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:
This position is open to professionals registered with their respective colleges, including: Registered Nurses (RN). Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPN). Registered Social Workers (Masters), authorized to conduct psychosocial interventions. Registered Psychologists (master's degree). Registered Occupational Therapists. Active registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college is required. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a security clearance with the Edmonton Police Service. Demonstrated experience in mental health and addiction services, particularly with children, youth, and families. Minimum of three years of experience supporting children and youth with complex mental health concerns in a community setting including crisis experience. Formal training in triage, assessment, intervention, risk mitigation and stabilization in a community setting. Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and treatment planning skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to recovery-oriented, culturally appropriate, and concurrent capable care. Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to various clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems is required. Strong critical thinking, strong assessment, and intervention skills, including crisis intervention required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Awareness and a working knowledge of psychiatric medications. Comprehensive knowledge of the Alberta Mental Health Act. Strong working knowledge of the addictions and mental health system and resources within AHS Edmonton zone and surrounding communities. Connect care experience an asset. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
