Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles is a growing psychiatric hospital dedicated to serving both adult and geriatric populations. Since opening our first facility in 2015 in Magnolia, Mississippi, we have expanded to 12 locations across Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi.
As we continue to grow, we are actively expanding our Lake Charles team in preparation for increasing our capacity to a total of 46 beds, serving both adult and geriatric patients.

We are currently seeking a full-time Mental Health Tech (MHT) for the day shift (6:45 AM–7:00 PM) to join our clinical team.
Position Summary:
A Mental Health Technician (MHT) at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles provides direct support to patients and assists the clinical team in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment.
In this role, MHTs monitor patient behavior, ensure safety through regular observation, and assist with activities of daily living such as hygiene, meals, and mobility. They help facilitate group activities, encourage participation in treatment, and support patients in developing coping and social skills.
Mental Health Technicians also document patient interactions, report changes in behavior or condition to nursing staff, and assist in de-escalation when needed. Strong communication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations are essential for success in this role.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Previous experience caring for geriatric psychiatric patients strongly preferred.
• CNA Certification preferred
• Updated resumes with work history required
