Job Title: Mental Health Support Counselor (Remote - PH)
Department: Human Resources
Location: Remote (Work from Home, Philippines)
Shift: 5 PM - 2 AM (Manila Time) or 2 AM 11 AM

A. Role Summary
The Mental Health Support Counselor serves as the primary internal mental health support resource for Optimizers’ Virtual Assistants and internal team members. This role provides confidential, short-term mental health support, promotes emotional well-being, and helps employees manage stress, burnout, and workplace-related challenges in a remote, multicultural environment.
This position operates within clearly defined professional boundaries, focusing on support, early intervention, and referrals rather than long-term clinical treatment.
You will report directly to the HR Head and collaborate closely with the HR and Client Success teams.
B. Key Responsibilities
1. Mental Health Support & Counseling
Provide individual, confidential counseling sessions focused on stress management, burnout prevention, adjustment concerns, emotional regulation, and workplace-related mental health challenges.
Conduct mental health screenings and stress assessments to identify risk factors and appropriate support pathways.
Deliver crisis intervention and immediate emotional support, following internal escalation, safety, and referral protocols.
2. Group & Preventive Programs
Facilitate group support sessions, wellness workshops, and mental health education initiatives tailored to a remote workforce.
Support proactive well-being initiatives that promote resilience, psychological safety, and sustained performance.
3. Coordination & Referrals
Collaborate with external licensed mental health providers, clinics, or emergency services for referrals when cases fall outside internal scope.
Guide employees toward appropriate external resources for long-term therapy or specialized clinical care when needed.
4. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of sessions in accordance with ethical standards and data privacy laws.
Ensure strict compliance with Philippine mental health laws, PRC regulations, and ethical guidelines for remote counseling.
5. Advisory & Collaboration
Partner with HR and leadership to provide non-identifying insights on workforce mental health trends, risks, and preventive strategies.
Support the development of internal mental health policies, escalation frameworks, and wellness programs.
C. Scope of Support & Professional Boundaries
This role provides short-term, supportive counseling and workplace-focused mental health support.
The counselor does not provide long-term psychotherapy, psychiatric diagnosis, or medication management.
Clinical cases requiring extended treatment are referred to external licensed providers.
The role focuses on support, coping strategies, early intervention, and guidance, not replacement of medical or psychiatric care.
D. Qualifications
1. Education & Licensure
Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Guidance & Counseling, or a related field.
Active PRC license as a Registered Psychologist, Licensed Guidance Counselor, or equivalent.
2. Experience
Minimum 2-3 years of professional counseling or mental health support experience.
Demonstrated experience working with a remote workforce, distributed teams, or multicultural populations, where cultural sensitivity and virtual engagement are critical.
3. Skills & Competencies
Strong counseling, listening, and emotional assessment skills.
High ethical standards, discretion, and professionalism.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Filipino.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating cross-functionally.
Comfort using telehealth platforms, secure communication tools, and digital documentation systems.
4. Preferred Attributes
Training or certification in CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, stress management, or crisis response.
Prior experience supporting employees in BPO, VA agencies, tech, or global remote organizations.
Experience coordinating external referrals and mental health provider networks.
Familiarity with employee assistance programs (EAPs) or workplace wellness initiatives.

Reliable primary internet connection with backup internet and essential equipment.
