What will you do?
Reporting to the Manager, Benefit Services, the Member Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering all aspects of membership care including ongoing relationship management by providing solutions to Members relating to benefit system support and utilization of benefit services. The position will also ensure that linkages are seamless in relation to programs and services offered by OpenCircle Benefits.
The Member Benefits Specialist will be required to travel within and across Alberta.
Job Responsibilities
The following is a high-level description of the position’s responsibilities and is not intended to be all-inclusive:
Deliver comprehensive explanations and support to Members to ensure effective utilization of their selected benefit plan and the value provided to their company.
Respond to inquiries by phone, email, or in person.
Review benefit plan option changes upon request and provide guidance on what to expect when transitioning plan levels to ensure a smooth transition.
Provide assistance relating to cost share during renewal, tax times, or when there is a change in benefit plan options.
Deliver comprehensive training for new administrators upon request, including walkthroughs of benefit administration and claim sites.
De-escalate concerns relating to employees benefit coverage, drug card requests, enrolment of new employees and monthly reporting.
Create and host monthly benefit webinars distributed nationally relating to information on benefit plans and processes both employee and employer specific.
Review and identify potential compliance issues and provide retraining where applicable and recommend solutions to resolve compliance issues.
Serve as a representative of OpenCircle at events, conferences, and Member worksites.
Review benefit plan comparison requests to offer solutions that best fit the needs of the Member or prospective Member.
Monitor and compile Association Member data for trending purposes
Conduct surveys for benefit plans to assess overall satisfaction.
Review and maintain accurate and timely records for reporting.
Collection and reconciliation of data relating members across the country.
Analyze trends to identify target areas or members to provide solutions.
Maintain Member records in the benefit administration system to ensure accurate information is available and accessible by all employees of OpenCircle.
Lead projects pertaining to the benefit plan with integration into other areas of the organization.
Develop new processes to accommodate changes to benefit plans and benefit plan structure.
Complete assigned monthly workarounds such as health checks relating to the input of Member data.
Assist the Application team with documentation, implementation and testing of new releases or system functionality.
Qualifications
High school diploma; post-secondary education is considered an asset.
3-5 years of benefit administration experience required.
Advanced knowledge of benefit and membership programs.
Ability to organize workflow and priorities to meet the needs of Members and employers.
Ability to handle a multitude of tasks accurately, effectively and efficiently.
Desire to promote team building and ensure strong team environment is achieved.
Effectively deal with all Members in a manner that shows sensitivity, demonstrating tact and professionalism.
Strong judgement, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to locate, process and analyze data.

Initiative in identifying and dealing with situations proactively and persistently.
Exemplary customer service skills.
Demonstrate time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet projected timelines.
Proficiency in computer software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Excellent computer skills are essential.
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent).
Ability to travel within and across Alberta.
