Typical Accountabilities: • The role of ‘Nominated Signatory’ covers a set of responsibilities for final approval of specified materials and activities linked to promotion, interactions with Health Care Professional and Organisations and other related areas such as non-promotional health education materials within a large commercial geography. This is an important responsibility undertaken on behalf of the Company and in a personal professional capacity. It adds value to the Company and reflects the importance of doing business in a compliant and ethical manner. • • The appointing manager must accredit nominated Signatories to approve materials and activities. The accreditation is valid for specified countries or functions and does cover other parts of AstraZeneca. Review and approval typically involves a team approach where a Nominated Signatory represents the final position of a team, which may include Legal, Medical and Regulatory review, as well as their own personal, professional position. • • The procedure for the appointment of Nominated Signatories should be documented by each part of the Company that has Nominated Signatories. The accreditation of individuals as ‘Nominated Signatories’ is the decision of responsible senior managers e.g. the Marketing Company President who is ultimately accountable for the appointments. • • In appointing a Nominated Signatory the responsible manager must assure that the candidate is suitably qualified, has sufficient knowledge and demonstrates the relevant capabilities to approve materials and activities on behalf of the Company. • Some parts of the Company may find it useful to identify a ‘Lead Nominated Signatory’ to take overall accountability for approvals in a unit (e.g. a country). In any event each unit should identify a main Nominated Signatory contact to facilitate interactions with other parts of the Company. • • Nominated Signatories names will be co-ordinated by Global Compliance for inclusion in the Company list of Nominated Signatories. AstraZeneca Nominated Signatories should have a degree in medicine, pharmacy, pharmacology or other relevant life sciences; ; National legislation or codes may have additional stipulations on qualifications for signatories who approve material or activities directed at their health care professionals and others. For promotional material and non-interventional studies in Europe, at least one final signatory must be a medical doctor or pharmacist. External authorities may also require registration of Company signatories with them.; ; Knowledge; ; In order to be accredited as an AstraZeneca Nominated Signatory the individual should demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant topics. The responsible senior manager may require that the Nominated Signatories they appoint are able to demonstrate their initial and continued capability e.g. through formal assessments such as written tests, interviews or other means.; ; A comprehensive understanding of AZ business policies, procedures and guidance such as that on product promotion and scientific exchange of information regulations; ; A working understanding of relevant legislation and external codes of practice relating to promotional activities. • Desirable: Key Relationship to reach solutions: • Internal (to AZ or team): Regional and functional management, Global Compliance Committee members and other functional heads, Marketing Company Presidents and medical directors.
