MEDICAL RECORDS CLERK
Location: 1233 Edgewater St. NW, Salem OR 97301 | Not a remote position
Job Status: Full-time
Hours: 8:30am – 5pm, Monday - Friday
Are you detail‑oriented, organized, and passionate about supporting quality patient care behind the scenes? Join Northwest Human Services as a Medical Records Clerk and play a vital role in ensuring accurate, timely, and confidential medical records for our community health clinics.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Medical Records Clerk, you’ll provide essential support to the medical records department by managing, scanning, and maintaining patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards. Your work helps ensure continuity of care and supports providers, staff, and patients every day.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and process Release of Information requests and ensure timely receipt of outside records
Scan, file, and index medical documents (labs, diagnostics, reports, dictation, correspondence) into the electronic health record
Review incoming documents to avoid duplicate records
Assign documents to the correct provider and clinic location
Retrieve records from outside sources to support continuity of patient care
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent
Ability to cope with a fast-paced environment
Able to work flexible hours
Communicate effectively and handle medical records in a confidential manner
