The Medical Partnership Manager is an ambassador for Vikand and is responsible for leading the partnership between Vikand and their assigned partners. The Medical Partnership Manager does this by closely supporting and managing the onboard medical teams (where applicable) and providing consistent reporting and communication with the designated person/s shoreside for each assigned partner. The main objective of this role is to ensure delivery of patient-centric, high quality, safe medical care with professionalism and compassion while considering cost efficiency and data metrics to consistently strive for the best level of service delivery. The Medical Partnership Manager is required to take a proactive approach with all partners and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnership Management:
• Proactively leads all communication with their assigned partners, discusses and recommends areas
for improvement and discusses opportunities for additional services.
• Deliver a high standard of customer service to all external and internal customers.
• Develops and maintains professional partner relationships through effective and timely
communication, engages with partners on a frequent basis to ensure transparency of key performance
indicators and actionable items.
• Proactively responds, resolves and communicates with issues within the medical team onboard,
involving the appropriate Vikand representatives where necessary.
• Collaborates with the various departments within Vikand to ensure the appropriate
representatives are involved.
• Maintain a good understanding of the complaints/claims process and efficiently communicate any
legal and HR related matters to respective Vikand leadership as per internal policy.
• Promptly reports any concerns or partner issues that cannot be resolved to the Director, Medical
Partnerships, who in turn may involve additional medical leadership.
Operations:
• Proactively engages in a supportive way with the onboard Medical Team and/or Senior Officers on
a regular and frequent cadence to ensure they have the tools required to perform their duties,
follow up on any outstanding action items and assist with medical issues or needs with regards to
guest, crew and the onboard medical capabilities.
• Assist with the logistical coordination during medical emergencies, evacuations and/or deaths
onboard, as required.
• Assists partners with public health support in relation to medical operations.
• Assists with the development, review, and updates of the partner specific procedures and/or
Medical Operations Manual.
Utilizing the resources within the operations department, collect, review and present relevant medical data to address current performance of the medical care onboard and partners overall medical operations. Measuring and evaluating key performance indicators and analyzing processes to improve performance.
• Able to confidently lead routine partner meetings and present key data and deliverables during business review meetings.
• Manages the day-to-day administration of the ship Medical Formulary Management Program including emergency orders and shoreside purchases, where indicated by the individual partner agreement.
• Responsible for being familiar and knowledgeable with maritime medical regulatory bodies, including CLIA, CDC and Shipsan.
• 24/7 On-Call availability, able to be on call for medical emergency line on a regular basis.
• Assists and collaborates with the Vikand Case Manager regarding all case management and psychological requests.
• Can assist and join a vessel in cases of mass causality incidents, public health outbreaks or as requested.
• Oversees Electronic Medical Record (EMR) set up, training and support.
• On vessels with Vikand medical staff, assists and collaborates with HR interviews, performance management, terminations, and scheduling in close cooperation with the assigned Human Resources Business Partner.
• Assumes a lead role in the launch of all new vessels for designated clients and collaborates with key stakeholders and the Director of New Builds and Special Projects to ensure an efficient launch.
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA, GDPR and Vikand confidentiality policies in dealing with partners and staff
• Proactively assures ship’s medical documentation and reporting is completed correctly, accurately and in adherence to policies and procedures.
• Conduct Vikand QA/QI operational audits either in person or remotely as determined by the audit team.
• Responsible for the communication of the Ship Medical QA/QI visits per Vikand policy as well as direct oversight and management of the action items; efficient resolution and close loop communication with the partner in a timely manner, where applicable
• Participates in ongoing development of projects, service solutions and overall value of the designated clients.
• Accountable for complying with all internal Vikand procedures.
• Assists and is responsible for requirements specific to a designated partner not mentioned above
QUALIFICATIONS
• Valid state issued medical/nursing license in good standing
• 5+ years clinical experience in a hospital setting
• 1+ year shipboard medical experience
• A minimum of one-year supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Valid ACLS and other valid certificates and willingness to maintain
• Fluent in English
• Must be willing and able to travel
• Must demonstrate excellent written/verbal interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
• Possess excellent organizational and prioritization skills, lead proactively and able to work on several projects simultaneously.
• Valid passport in place with no travel restrictions or limitations which should be valid no less than six months at any time
Salary for this position is $5,500/month USD
