Medical Lab Technician (MLT):

MLTs typically work under the supervision of a medical technologist or laboratory manager.

They perform routine laboratory procedures and tests, such as blood tests, urinalysis, and microbiological cultures.

MLTs operate laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, cell counters, and automated analyzers, ensuring they are calibrated and maintained properly.

They are responsible for documenting and maintaining accurate records of tests performed and results obtained.

MLTs may also assist in the preparation of specimens for analysis and communicate with healthcare providers regarding test results.

Medical Technologist (MT):

Medical Technologists have a higher level of education and typically more responsibilities compared to MLTs.

They perform complex laboratory tests on various biological samples, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.

MTs analyze and interpret test results, troubleshoot issues with equipment or procedures, and ensure quality control and assurance measures are met.

They may specialize in specific areas of the laboratory, such as microbiology, hematology, clinical chemistry, or immunology.

MTs often supervise and train MLTs and other laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with laboratory protocols and safety standards.

They may also be involved in research projects, method development, and evaluation of new laboratory techniques or technologies.
