Job Overview
Start your career in a specialized trade supporting the safe, precise handling and placement of medical equipment in active healthcare environments. As a Medical Equipment Handling Technician (Level 1), you’ll work alongside experienced installers and riggers, learning the standards, tools, and planning required to execute equipment safely and efficiently.
This role supports full-scope logistics, transportation, and Placement work—where every step is planned and executed to ensure a safe, smooth, and damage-free outcome in sensitive healthcare settings.
This is not general labor—it’s a hands-on entry point into a defined career path with progression into placement, rigging, and lead-level responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support the safe handling, transportation, and placement of medical equipment as part of coordinated logistics and placement projects
Assist with loading, unloading, and positioning equipment using dollies, pallet jacks, skates, straps, and specialty handling tools
Follow pre-planned job steps to ensure a safe, smooth, and efficient execution of equipment moves and Placements
Protect equipment, walls, floors, and building finishes through proper packaging, staging, and handling techniques
Maintain strict adherence to PPE requirements, safety protocols, and crew lead direction always
Support work inside hospitals and healthcare facilities with a strong focus on cleanliness, infection control awareness, and minimal disruption
Assist installers and riggers with basic setup, staging, and positioning of critical medical equipment
Maintain trucks, trailers, tools, and moving equipment in clean, organized, and ready-to-use condition
Complete job documentation, checklists, and delivery records accurately to support traceability and quality standards
Contribute to a professional, reliable, and customer-focused work environment on every job site
Work flexible schedules, including overtime and weekends, with periodic travel primarily within the Mid-Atlantic region based on customer needs.
Additional compensation can be earned by obtaining and maintaining either a CDL Class B ($3 per hour) or CDL-A ($5 per hour).
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
Must possess a current valid driver's license
Demonstrated reliability, commitment to attendance, and consistent punctuality
Ability to follow structured plans, detailed instructions, and safety procedures in *small* team-oriented environment
Mechanical aptitude with interest in learning specialized equipment, tools, and placement practices
Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and maneuver larger specialized medical equipment using proper tools and team coordination
Comfortable working in controlled healthcare environments where precision, cleanliness, and professionalism are critical
Strong attention to detail with a focus on protecting high-value equipment and facility conditions
Ability to complete basic paperwork and job documentation accurately
Professional communication and demeanor when working around customers, manufacturing representatives, hospital staff, and patients
Willingness to learn and grow within a structured career path into placement and rigging roles
Flexibility to support variable schedules based on project demands
