Front Desk / Patient Reception Responsibilities
Greet and check in patients for appointments in a professional manner.
Verify patient insurance information and demographics.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at check-in or check-out.
Manage patient intake forms and update electronic health records (EHR).
Maintain patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations.
Coordinate with medical staff regarding patient flow and scheduling.
Medical Collections Responsibilities
Review patient accounts with outstanding balances.
Contact patients via phone, email, or letters regarding overdue medical bills.
Explain charges, payment plans, and insurance adjustments to patients.
Process payments and update patient billing records.
Work with insurance companies regarding denied or delayed claims.
Follow up on unpaid claims and patient balances.
Set up payment arrangements for patients when needed.
Document collection activity in billing software or EHR system.
Medical Billing / Administrative Support
Assist with medical billing tasks such as claim submission and payment posting.
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and resolve billing discrepancies.
Maintain accurate patient financial records.
Prepare billing reports for the billing department or practice manager.
Knowledge of medical billing and coding basics.
Experience with EHR systems (such as Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks).
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to handle sensitive financial discussions with patients.
Basic understanding of insurance verification and claims processing.
Organizational and multitasking skills.
