We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Medical Coding Manager to lead and oversee end-to-end medical coding operations across multiple specialties. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in medical coding standards, compliance, and quality management, along with strong people leadership and process optimization skills. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely coding that supports revenue integrity, regulatory adherence, and operational excellence.

Requirements:
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage medical coding teams handling inpatient, outpatient, professional, and specialty coding.
• Ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with industry standards, payer guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee coding quality, productivity, and turnaround time, ensuring alignment with organizational KPIs and SLAs.
• Conduct regular audits, quality checks, and root cause analysis to identify coding errors, trends, and improvement opportunities.
• Implement corrective action plans, training programs, and process improvements to enhance coding accuracy and reduce denials.
• Stay current with changes in coding guidelines, CMS regulations, payer policies, and industry best practices, and communicate updates to the team.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical documentation improvement (CDI) teams, billing, compliance, and revenue cycle stakeholders to resolve coding and documentation issues.
• Support denial management initiatives by providing coding insights, appeal support, and preventive strategies.
• Drive standardization of coding workflows, SOPs, and documentation practices across teams and geographies.
• Mentor, coach, and develop coding team leads and senior coders, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Assist in workforce planning, capacity management, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, data security, and internal compliance policies at all times.

Required Skills & Expertise

• Strong hands-on expertise in Medical Coding across multiple specialties.
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Proven experience in coding audits, quality assurance, and compliance management.
• Strong understanding of payer guidelines, CMS regulations, and revenue cycle processes.
• Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and drive corrective actions.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Experience managing large teams and handling high-volume coding operations.

Qualifications

• 8–20 years of progressive experience in medical coding, with significant experience in leadership or managerial roles.
• Certified coding credential such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CIC, or equivalent (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Health Information Management, or a related field (preferred).
