This is an adjunct position. Clinics are held on the weekends. Typically, there is one clinic per month. Clinics are held at the West Virginia Junior College- Bridgeport location. You MUST be located in Bridgeport, WV or be able to drive to the Bridgeport location.
West Virginia Junior College is seeking instructors to teach in person, on the weekends, in its Clinical Medical Assistant program. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced teachers or career professionals with practical experience.
Purpose: The main objective of this position is to effectively, competently and efficiently facilitate learning and testing of clinical skills/competencies of all students assigned to the Instructors course in accordance with WVJC's teaching philosophy.
Qualifications (Required):
3+ Years Experience in a clinical setting as a Medical Assistant
CCMA certification required
Associate Degree in Medical Assistant
Responsibilities:
Organize clinical/lab site for practical and technical instruction, including demonstration of skills required in the medical assistant profession
Provide instruction of clinical skills
Facilitate student practice of clinical skills
Assess students' clinical skills/competencies
Report skills/competency assessment results to the Medical Programs Coordinator, following expected guidelines (time and format)
Enforces lab area protocols, rules and regulations; maintains discipline; utilizes effective time management for clinical instruction
Maintain a clean and orderly lab area, ensuring that waste is disposed of according to Occupational Safety and
Health Administration's (OSHA) policies and procedures
Return lab to orderly condition after use
Provide feedback on course or program development and/or enhancement
Build instructor-student and student-student relationships
Identify at-risk students; provide them extra support, instruction, and attention; and notify the Allied Health Programs Director
Attend faculty meetings
Remain current in field of instruction to provide relevant student feedback and credible input to course updating and development
Participate in WVJC's faculty/staff development and outside professional development to ensure a high level of quality and expertise in field of instruction
