Position Description
The Medical Advisor, Medical Affairs – Infectious Diseases & Molecular Diagnostics plays a pivotal role in advancing QIAGEN’s leadership in infectious disease diagnostics. Acting as a trusted medical and scientific authority, you will shape the positioning of our cutting-edge molecular diagnostic platforms and products from development through commercialization. As a key member of the Global Medical Affairs Team, you will deliver expert guidance, build scientific credibility, and partner closely with EMEA marketing and sales teams to drive success across two core franchises: Syndromic Diagnostics and PCR.
Key Responsibilities
Provide authoritative medical expertise on infectious disease diagnostics, ensuring teams and partners have access to the latest clinical evidence and best practices.
Equip internal teams with knowledge through engaging, impactful training programs for sales, marketing, and customer support teams.
Showcase clinical value by delivering compelling presentations to healthcare providers, laboratories, and other decision-makers.
Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate medical insights into product positioning, marketing campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
Advance evidence generation by supporting clinical studies, interpreting data, and communicating results to scientific and medical communities.
Build strong relationships with KOLs and professional societies to foster collaboration, thought leadership, and market influence.
Track and translate emerging trends in science, technology, and market dynamics into actionable strategies.

Position Requirements
Advanced degree preferred (PharmD, MSc, PhD, MD) in Clinical Infectious Disease, Pharmacy, Medical Microbiology, or a related discipline; bachelor’s degree required.
Proven experience as a Medical/Clinical Microbiologist or Infectious Disease Pharmacist (PharmD ID) or Physician (MD), with minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, ideally including 2–5 years in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, or diagnostic industry.
Strong knowledge of infectious disease diagnosis, treatment pathways, and microbiology/virology techniques.
Familiarity with laboratory workflows; PCR technology experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to present complex technical information clearly to audiences with varying scientific and clinical backgrounds.
Skilled at supporting commercial teams with scientific expertise in customer-facing environments.
Willingness to travel extensively, up to 60% across the EMEA region, and hold a valid driver’s license.
Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish (required) and additional European languages is a strong advantage.
