Mechanical Fitter

General Description: 
Skilled work which demands a standard of competence necessitating either an apprenticeship to a trade or recognised 
training programme where an employee is required to be fully qualified in all parts of the trade and capable of producing 
work to the required standards, specification or finish expected of a craftsman. To perform defined tasks to written 
instructions and to be able to work to their own initiative to enable the Depot to provide a quality service to the business. 
This role requires an ability to work in both core and non-core trades. 
Responsibilities:
• Work as directed by your Line Manager. 
• Undertake all tasks of own trade and non core activities of other dissimilar trades and maybe required instructing 
others. 
• Ability to prioritise own work. 
• Advise and inform of any defects found in the course of your duties. 
• Complete necessary paperwork according to Procedures and adhere to such procedures. 
• Ensure that work is completed in a clean and tidy manner 
• Take care of all working property and handle it in a safe working manner, ensuring it is returned to its proper location. 
• Deliver and be responsible for quality of work undertaken and to required standards • Non-core activity may 
require checking to ensure it meets required standards • Input of data (IT) 
Education Requirements/Person Specification:
• GCSE Grade C and above 
• Time served apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3 
• Trained in problem solving techniques, root cause analysis and team working. 
• NVQ Level 3 in non-core trade i.e. Engineering Maintenance/Production or equivalent qualification. 
• IT Skills
